HKPC, HP, and Pro-Technic Machinery Sign Agreement to Establish Advanced 3D Printing Technology Centre

The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and HP will jointly establish the “HKPC – HP 3D Printing Technology Centre” in Hong Kong this coming September. On May 7, 2024, a formal signing ceremony was held at the HKPC headquarters between HKPC, HP, and Pro-Technic Machinery Ltd.Mr. Robert Lai and Mr. Nicholas Lai of Pro-Technic Machinery Ltd. were honored to attend the ceremony.

The event was witnessed by Professor Dong Sun, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the HKSAR (fifth from left), and Under Secretary Ms. Lillian Cheung (third from left).

 

The new HKPC – HP 3D Printing Technology Centre, to be located at the HKPC Building, will focus on research and development in 3D printing applications. It aims to manufacture high-value, customized products tailored to meet specific market needs.

Professor Dong Sun expressed that 3D printing technology is driving the development of smart micro-factories in Hong Kong by enhancing efficiency and reducing waste. He shared his confidence in the future of Hong Kong’s manufacturing sector and hopes to see more collaborations between tech enterprises and local research institutions to foster high-quality economic development.

Mr. Hon Sunny Tan stated that he is pleased to see HKPC forming a research partnership with HP, which reflects strong international confidence in Hong Kong’s innovation capabilities. He added that Hong Kong, as an international innovation and technology hub, is well-positioned to become a model city for smart micro-factories and to contribute to the development of new productive forces and sustainable innovation in Asia and globally.
